This guy has an uncanny, almost scary, ability to remember what high school was really like. The suburbia-bashing is a little reminiscent, for my tastes, of the environmentalists/socialists who'd like to ban single-family homes and cars and things like that, but a lot of it is dead-on.

Microsoft kb article about how to make the Paint program deal with file formats other than BMP. Turns out that it relies on Microsoft Office to support the file formats (as a Windows PC without office just doesn't have the capability). And even then you sometimes have to (as I did on the new PC I just got at work) force Paint to open the files for the first time before it will start to recognize them as graphics files.
